Skin Lesions
Skin lesions can occur in various forms and attention may be
drawn to an area if there has been any change in shape, irritation,
pigmentation, bleeding or any other changes of concern.
Skin lesions may be benign or malignant but a biopsy, or excision,
and histological analysis may be required to find out the precise
nature of the condition, and also to find out if any further
treatment is required.
Excision of a skin lesion will necessarily leave a scar and it is
advisable to discuss this with the surgeon. Occasionally there can
be infection or bleeding at the site of the excision and follow up
will be required. The results of histological analysis can take 7 –
10 days.
